Contacts searching

I have a HTC Touch Dual WM6 pro. I remember in the earlier htc model i could search a contact by typing the letters & it would produce me the combination matches of the contact & i could select nearest or the exact match. however in the wm6 pro it looks like i "have to" scroll to the alphabet or type the exact name. Can anyone let me know if there is a chance for me to get back the contact search by typing the letters & getting all combinations of the search criteria

For EX: If i key in the button 8 & 7 it will list all t9 combo of contact names have letters pqrs/tuv

Go to Contacts > Menu > Options
Just Tick the box " Show alphabetical index "... Press O.K.

That should do it....
