The BEST Windows Mobile Software August 20th, 2009

I’ve been using the Windows Mobile platform since WM5. Since then, Microsoft has pushed their mobile OS to new limits, despite the trendy, fancy-dancy iPhone. Along with their improvements, comes better software. And out of that software, I decided to choose my top 5 personal favorites.

#5Palringo

Palringo

Palringo is my FAVORITE application to use with friends. If you can get at least one of your friends to install this application on their Windows Mobile phone, you can simply create a ‘Channel’ where only you two (or whoever you invite) can communicate. It practically turns your phone into a Walkie-Talkie (two-way radio). Not only that, you can take and send pictures, videos, and text in seconds.

#4Youtube Mobile

Youtube Mobile

Youtube created a native Windows Mobile app that streams all of their videos without opening your browser. Video quality is also relatively good. Youtube Mobile calculates your data rate, then streams the appropriate video quality (this will save some people money on data transfer charges). Enjoy.

#3TouchTris

TouchTris

Touchtris is the good old tetris game controlled only by touch of your fingers. Controls: Move your finger left to move a block left, move the finger right to move the block right, move the finger up to rotate the block and move the finger down to move the block down.

#2S2U2

S2U2

Another favorite of mine simply because it makes my phone look really cool. All of those snooty iPhone users get jealous when they see that Windows Mobile phones can unlock by touch-sliding.

#1Google Maps 3.0

Google Maps

I know it’s almost clique to choose Google today, but I didn’t choose this one – you did. Google Maps v3.0 is the best rated freeware on WM6software.net, according to your votes. I’m going to have to agree with all of you. Since I’ve installed Google Maps on my HTC Touch, I haven’t gotten lost in the city yet. Well, I’ve gotten lost. But I found my way back after opening Google Maps and looking up directions. Google is the internet giant. They have everything documented in their huge brain of a database. Being connected via Windows Mobile is a true luxury. Install this application if you haven’t already!
